This summer it’s been six years since Comedy Central sketch comedy show Inside Amy Schumer aired its final episode — summer 2016 pretty much defines “before times,” oddly enough — and now Paramount+ is bringing the show back for another season. We heard early last year that the streaming service has five new Inside Amy Schumer “specials,” but they’ve since been officially reimagined as a true fifth season for the show.
Today Schumer announced on social media that: Inside Amy Schumer returns on October 20, posting a brutally edited “letter to fans” making several references to this thing that will “finally” cancel her forever. It also mentions the burning of “all remaining bridges” and promises that these five episodes will be “better than ever” (as well as “not as good as season three”). You might be tempted to take Schumer at her word and think that this season she’s really going to do it all, take no prisoners and say all the spicy shit she’s been on, but also proverb she’s going to do that perfectly in line with her usual vibe…so who knows.
At the very least, it’s clear that – even after the movies and the co-hosting of the Oscars and all – Amy Schumer is still definitely Amy Schumer. Past all those things about it ruining her career and burning all her remaining bridges, we know that season five of Inside Amy Schumer will premiere on Paramount+ on October 20, with the first two episodes available then and the other three weekly. Other than that, we’ll just have to wait and see how her sketches get canceled this time around. (Also, we might not sound very convinced that Schumer really goes as far as she claims, but it would be damn impressive to have such a shot.)
