Jackson tackled Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks while Bills lineback came in Tremaine Edmunds.
Unfortunately, Edmunds missed his target and punched his own teammate in the head, knocking Jackson’s head and neck back in violent scenes.
The force of the shot left Jackson motionless on the grass as coaches rushed toward him as silence fell around the stadium.
For several minutes, the Bills star was surrounded by medical personnel as the cart first emerged from the tunnel before an ambulance appeared.
The ambulance was brought onto the field as Jackson was slowly loaded and taken away while the fans held their breath.
The Bills provided an update on the defending star shortly after the ambulance left the stadium.
“CB Dane Jackson has been taken to ECMC for evaluation of a neck injury. He gets a CT scan and an X-ray. Jackson has full limb movement,” the statement read.
The Bills went into halftime leading 17-7 against the Titans, but Jackson was the only one watching.
“Man, I pray for Dane Jackson…that’s terrible,” wrote one fan.
Another said: “Hope for the best for Dane Jackson. So sad to see such an injury.”
News reporter Alyssa Rae wrote: “Dane Jackson’s injury is hard to watch. Pray that he is well.”
Sports anchor Spencer Davidson wrote: “Absolutely deafening silence in Orchard Park. Such a terrifying scene. Thoughts with Dane Jackson, and hope for a speedy recovery.”
