ICT division launches ‘Hasina and Friends’ gaming platform

The Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is going to launch the gaming platform “Hasina and Friends”.

On the occasion of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s 76th birthday, the platform will be launched on Wednesday.

According to the IT department, the platform will enable users to learn about environment, health, education and connectivity through interactive games and fun lessons.

The website is aimed at children in three age groups (6-9 years, 9-12 years and 12-16 years) and they are further divided into four core topics, namely environment, health, education and connectivity.

There will be specialized stories and games for each category.

“The young generation, starting with children, will be able to learn about history and culture from the Prime Minister on the platform,” said State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak during a discussion meeting organized by the ICT department on observing the National Mourning Day last month.

The state minister for ICT also said that the local online platform plays a role in getting to know Bangabandhu and doing research on him.

The Ministry undertook the Gamification in Education strategy to present Bangabandhu’s philosophical ideology, art, culture and literature to children and adolescents. In a larger sense, to the next generation.

As part of this, a web portal and game series ‘Hasina and Friends’ will be created.

Golden Harvest InfoTech, a multidisciplinary outsourcing service provider, developed the platform.

The platform features 32 interactive stories and 12 games, the biographies of Sheikh Hasina and the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and information about the eight divisions of Bangladesh.

In the stories, the Prime Minister will be a character teaching the children about issues related to the environment, history and culture of the country, according to Anwar Hossain, project director in skills development for mobile games and application of the ICT division.

In addition, the stories teach children about the values that a person must develop in order to become a good person and a good citizen.

There will be messages about dedication, social justice, gender equality, education, innovation, humanity, perseverance, humility, self-confidence, resilience, respect, curiosity, service and optimism.
