The Samsung Odyssey G9 captivated fans and enthusiasts alike when it was launched in June 2020. Although he had some issues with light leaking from the panel, they seem to have been resolved. Units produced after 2020 are usually defect free. One can buy it now for US$1,045 on Amazon, 25% lower than its asking price of US$1,400.
While that may seem like an exorbitant price to pay for a monitor, you get an unparalleled gaming experience with its 1000R QLED panel. The Samsung Odyssey G9 has a resolution of 5,120 x 1,440 pixels, which is equivalent to placing two 27-inch monitors side by side. Other specs include a 240Hz refresh rate, Nvidia G-Sync/AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support, and customizable RGB lighting on the back. This, combined with oft-discounted last-generation graphics cards, should make for an excellent gaming setup.
A cursory look at the Samsung Odyssey G9’s price history (via CamelCamelCamel) reveals that it changes often. However, the current price will probably remain in effect for a few more days until Black Friday. Those with a little extra cash can get the newer version, the 4K Odyssey Neo G9, although it appears to be currently out of stock on Amazon and Samsung’s official website.
